Here's your first look at Gotham's Dr. Hugo Strange

The second of Gotham's two major new villains has been unveiled, and he looks kind of perfect.

When Gotham returns in a few weeks for the back half of its second season, the series will unveil two well-known names from Batman's rogues' gallery: Mr. Freeze and Dr. Hugo Strange. While we've already gotten a glimpse of Freeze, we've had yet to see how character actor B.D. Wong (Jurassic World) will look as Strange -- until now.

TV Insider revealed the first photo of Wong as the mad psychiatrist, and, well, he looks like he walked right out of the comics:

Pretty cool, huh? Wong also dropped a hint about what the doctor will be doing as he takes over the running of Arkham Asylum:

"What [he] is doing in there is indeed very, very bad. Imagine the worst thing someone might do. Then multiply that by 10."

According to Cinemablend, Strange will pretend to be launching an ambitious plan to rehabilitate all of Arkham's inmates, but instead he'll be running a mysterious program called Indian Hill, which is aimed at creating a superhuman being -- and it's being done via funding from Wayne Enterprises. Seems like Strange will also be interacting with some of the show's other villains, most notably the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), who somehow finds himself in Arkham and, says Wong, "is never the same from the moment he walks through the door."

Strange may seem a bit obscure to fans of the Batman movies, but he's shown up in animated form and, in the comics, he actually predates both Joker and Catwoman as one of the Caped Crusader’s oldest foes. He first appeared in February 1940, in the pages of Detective Comics #36, and he was the first Bat-nemesis to figure out the Dark Knight's secret identity. Of course, they're not likely to face off on Gotham, but the show has the look just right and it'll be great to see this longtime Bat-baddie get some live-action love.

Gotham returns with new episodes on Monday, Feb. 29, at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.  What do you think of Wong as Strange?
