Ant-Man vs. Hulk, Independence Day: Resurgence, Jason Bourne, and more in all the Super Bowl spots worth watching

The Super Bowl has come and gone. Though the game was a bit of a snoozer (or defensive slugfest, if you prefer), it dig bring more than a few great trailers and a couple of solid commercials.

Most of the big superhero and sci-fi franchises were well-represented, with Captain America: Civil War, Independence Day: Resurgence, Deadpool, Jason Bourne and many more all blowing things up and punching people in the face with gusto. The big surprise was, probably, Coke's excellent Ant Man vs. Hulk spot — which has us absolutely dying to see these two actually share the big screen at some point in the next few years.

There were also some decent, genre-tinged commercials tossed in, with Mountain Dew and Doritos carrying the freak flag this year.

From movie trailers, to puppymonkeybaby creators, check out all the genre-related Super Bowl spots below and let us know you favorite.

Captain America: Civil War

We get to see some fresh footage from the eagerly-anticipated superhero match-up, as Tony Stark ominously notes: "You chose the wrong side." The Winter Soldier takes a shot (literally) at Stark, and there are enough explosions to even make Michael Bay blush.

Jason Bourne

Matt Damon returns to the butt-kicking role he turned into a massive action/spy-fi franchise in the fist trailer from the latest installment in the Bourne franchise. If you liked the first few movies, this one looks like it should not dissapoint.

Coke Mini: Hulk vs. Ant-Man

This was easily one of the coolest commercials of the Big Game, as Coca-Cola teamed up with Marvel to pull out two heroes as they chase through downtown over a ... well... tiny Coke. Which, yeah, still a commercial. But, very cool to see Ant Man and Hulk share the screen.

Independence Day: Resurgence

One of the big sci-fi sequels you might've forgotten about showed up to splash some fresh footage across the flat screens of America, and this long-awaited sequel definitely brought the genre action. We get to see some new shots of the alien battles, and if nothing else, this should be one heck of a fun spectacle.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

The first film was a box office hit, but a bit of a creative mess. With the sequel, the studio seems to be embracing the inherent campiness of the franchise and doubling down — making for a movie that at least looks to be a whole lot of fun. This new trailer finally gives us a look at the Krang, and it's as gloriously goofy as you likely hoped.

Gods of Egypt

This swords and sandals fantasy film looks positively ridiculous. This new trailer follows that trend. 'Nuff said.

Alice: Through the Looking Glass

Head back to the zany, gorgeous world of Wonderland with this new footage from Through the Looking Glass. With Tim Burton back as a producer, this could be an extremely fun fantasy tale later this year. It also gives Johnny Depp a break from his more pirate-y commitments.

X-Men: Apocalypse

Fresh on the heels of Days of Future Past, this new trailer for Apocalypse finally gives us a look at Olivia Munn's Psylocke in action. It doesn't completely dispel concerns about the silliness of some of the new costume designs, but it goes a very long way. Case in point: Munn's Psylocke rocks right here.

This long-shot superhero-ish flick finally opens wide next week. Early reviews have been positive, but the marketing onslaught is reaching a tipping point. At this point, you should already know if you want to see this movie.

10 Cloverfield Lane

This super-secret genre flick from producer J.J. Abrams opens next month, and aside from the fact that it follows a group of people hiding in a fallout shelter, we don't know much else. The Super Bowl trailer shows off some new footage, and regardless of it this turns out to be a direct sequel to Cloverfield, or a spiritual film in the anthology-style, it's looking really good.

The Jungle Book

This live action retelling of the storybook classic looks absolutely stunning. The new footage here gives us a feel for how these fantastic creatures will burst out of the screen, and we get to

Death Wish Coffee “Vikings” commercial

A coffee company uses vikings to sell its product. A bit weird, sure — but vikings!

Pokemon “20th Anniversary” commercial

It's hard to believe, but the Pokemon franchise has been around for two decades. To celebrate the milestone, Nintendo went all out with this interesting, ambitious Super Bowl spot.

Mountain Dew “puppymonkeybaby” commercial

It seems Mountain Dew and Doritos often slug it out for the weirdest commercials of the Super Bowl, and Mountain Dew landed a strong contender this year. Trying to make a point that combining three things can be great, they combine a puppy, monkey and baby. It's ... yeah. Just watch.

Doritos “Ultrasound” commercial

You just knew there'd have to be a Doritos commercial on this list, right? While not exactly genre, this spot was just weird enough to make the cut. It seems not even fetuses can resist the greatness(?) of Doritos.

Audi “Commander” commercial

Sure, it's a bit on the nose (also a stretch to compare an Audi to flying to the moon, but we digress). But, despite the cheesiness, anything that taps into Apollo-era nostalgia gets a pass. Well played.
