Holy quantum entanglement! Adam West to appear on The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory has been giving us camaraderie, geekiness, serious laughs and some very cool cameos for nine seasons. And for its upcoming 200th episode, it’s bringing out the big guns -- or perhaps the batarang -- by giving us an appearance by Adam West.

West is best known to fans everywhere as Batman from the campy, off-the-wall television series Batman, which ran from 1966-1968. For Baby Boomers, and early Generation Xers, he was Batman, pure and simple. Over the years, he’s reprised the role several times and voiced characters in the DC Universe, enough to solidify his bat-standing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, details about West’s episode are thin on the ground. But we know that West will be playing himself. Joining him are recurring actors Sara Gilbert, Christine Baranski and Wil Wheaton, who also portrays himself. Holy self-referentialism, Batman!

You may not have seen West recently, but you may have heard him: He voices Mayor Adam West on Family Guy. He also reprised his role as Batman in LEGO Batman 3.

The Big Bang Theory’s special guest list is special enough to include geek heroes like Wil Wheaton, Carrie Fisher, Summer Glau, Stan Lee and Leonard Nimoy (voice only); scientists like Brian Greene, Bill Nye and Stephen Hawking; and astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Michael J. Massimino.

West will be leaping into action on Feb. 25.
