Though most people only know the current state of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise from the films, comic book fans know that the Turtles are thriving thanks to a series at IDW Publishing overseen by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman. Over the course of nearly five years, the Turtles have done everything from nearly five dozens issues of a main series to time travel stories to a crossover with Batman, and now they're riding that success into the realm of board games.
Today, IDW Games announced a Kickstarter campaign for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past, a new board game designed by Kevin Wilson (Arkham Horror). The goal is to raise $250,000, not necessarily to build the game, but to provide fan interaction as well as add-ons including custom game boxes, bonus game pieces, and more.
“Kickstarter seems like an incredibly fun way to show the game to the fans,” said Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator, Kevin Eastman. “It’s almost like having a month long convention celebrating all thingsTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We’ll be able to show off all kinds of aspects of this awesome game and the IDW comic universe it comes from. There’s so much to be really excited for, but I’ll save some of the fun for when the campaign’s actually live!”
According to the campaign, the game, itself, will ship this July, and since it's already more than halfway to its fundraising goal, we're betting that backers are in for a load of extras. Check out a video for the campaign below, and then head HERE to help fund it.
