Image(s) of the Day: Scott Kelly shares a final sunrise and moon shot from the ISS

On Tuesday, March 1, Commander Scott Kelly will say farewell to the International Space Station, his lofty home 250 miles above the planet for the past 340 days (a new U.S. record) and join Russian cosmonauts Mikhail Kornienko and Sergey Volkov in a smooth descent back to Earth.

The trio will hitch a return ride on a Soyuz spacecraft and touch down at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan Tuesday night at approximately 11:27 p.m.  While packing up this weekend for the journey back to terra firma, Kelly took time to share a final sunrise and image of the moon before the change of command ceremony today and departure undocking and deorbit burn tomorrow evening.

Have a look at these inspiring shots and wish the intrepid voyagers Godspeed on their trip home.
