TV THIS WEEK: The X-Files' finale, Fury Road at the Oscars, and more!

We've got a lot of new TV this week, including some fun heroes and villains returning and debuting in the Arrowverse, and Mad Max: Fury Road trying to win as many Oscars as possible. The centerpiece, though, kicks off tonight, with the season finale of the X-Files revival.

Check out the week in TV below. What's on your watchlist?

The X-Files (FOX) Monday, 8 p.m. - "My Struggle II"

Season finale! - Well, I don't know about you, but for me this went by way too fast. Last month, The X-Files made its long-awaited return to television, re-opened its complex mythology, and then gave us four thrilling monster of the week episodes that further informed the characters and what they've been up to, lately. Now, the revival is drawing to a close with an episode that will presumably close the loop on the arc that began with the season premiere. Or will it? This is The X-Files, after all, and in this world there's always a deeper part of the conspiracy. Does that mean we'll get an 11th season somewhere down the line? Well, we can only hope. This week, Scully must search for a cure when people begin falling gravely ill all over the country, and a familiar figure from the past emerges. Check out a preview below.

The Flash (CW) Tuesday, 8 p.m. - "King Shark"

King Shark Alert! - I've written so many times about how much I love the comic book ambitions of the CW's "Arrowverse" that I sound like a broken record at this point, but even for my money the inclusion of King Shark in this universe is a big deal. He's never going to be a marquee supervillain, of course, but his overall look and tone, and just the generally insane notion of a character like this, is the kind of thing I never thought I'd see on TV. He's already made his mark on The Flash, but this week he's back to terrorize Barry and company again. Check out a preview below.

Arrow (CW) Wednesday, 8 p.m. - "Taken"

Vixen Alert! - And now, we come to another big live-action leap for the "Arrowverse." Last year, the CW released an animated web series starring the DC Comics hero Vixen, and while fans were happy to have it, there were lingering questions about whether or not the network was taking the character seriously enough to ever bring her to network broadcasts. Now, we finally get to see Megalyn Echikunwoke play the role in live-action form. This week, Oliver is in serious need of help, and he knows that Vixen is the answer, so the real thing is on the way. Check out a preview below.

MythBusters (DISC) Saturday, 8 p.m. - "The Reddit Special"

Sadly, we are just days away from the final episodes of Mythbusters, which will include both a finale episode and a reunion special. By March 5, one of the nerdiest shows to ever be on TV will be over, but Adam and Jamie are not done yet. For their penultimate episode, they took to Reddit, and asked fans of the show to try to come up with myths they'd never tested before. They got a huge number of responses, and this weekened they'll be tackling four of them in a special episode that's more or less been taken over by the internet.

The Oscars (ABC) Sunday, 8:30 p.m.

Will genre movies have a big night? - The annual Academy Awards ceremony airs on Sunday, pretty much overshadowing all other TV (except maybe The Walking Dead) that night, and we're always eager to see how well the genre films we love will far. Though they aren't necessarily frontrunners, Mad Max: Fury RoadThe Martian, and Ex Machina all scored major nominations, with Fury Road pulling in 10, including Best Picture and Best Director for George Miller. The worst case scenario is at least one of these films coming home with a lot of tech awards, and though we don't really expect it...who knows? Maybe Miller will rise above the field and claim a Best Director Oscar for his wasteland masterpiece.
