This '80s-style New Mutants music video is exactly what Fox should do with X-Men next

File this under "If Deadpool can happen ..."

Fox has a good thing going with the X-Franchise right now. They retconned that Last Stand movie (IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, PEOPLE) with Days of Future Past, they made a Deadpool movie that basically everyone thinks is great, and they're doing an '80s throwback with X-Men: Apocalypse.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, they've got to keep this thing going. So, what do you get if you mix retro-style with less mainstream characters? The NEW @#$ING MUTANTS, that's what!  And that's precisely what Arvin Bautista delivered when she wrote, directed and edited this music video starring some of the best deep-cut characters in the Marvel Universe:

So much to say about this goodness, where even to begin? Would it be that the New Mutants were leaving dance class taught by Stevie Hunter? Is it that Lila Cheney is rocking the Joan Jett vibe, just like she used to back in the day? Is it the acknowledgment the inclusion of Strong Guy as Lila's bodyguard? Or the acknowledgement that Lila and Sam Guthrie, aka Cannonball, were totally a couple?

Everything about this video is basically perfect. I feel like Dazzler's costume isn't period accurate, but who cares? The fact that Warlock, Kitty, Magik, Cannonball, Sunspot, Mirage, Karma, Wolfsbane, Magma and Cypher are all in this one video is basically a dream come true for New Mutants fans. And, even if you'd never heard of any of this before, the video is just amazing fun. I especially like the part where Lila teleports interdimensionally with Sam, since, yes, that is the only kind of teleporting she can do.

Fox, take note -- a movie or TV series about these characters would make you a mint.
