The Powerpuff Girls take flight in first clip from the new animated series

The first clip from the upcoming new Powerpuff Girls animated series has finally made its way online.

The new Powerpuff Girls, set to premiere on the Cartoon Network in April, will look very similar to the original series created by Craig McCracken, which originally ran from 1998 to 2004. It followed the zany adventures of three super-powered girls “made from sugar, spice, everything nice and Chemical X” created by Professor Utonium.

It will also primarily feature a new voice cast, with Amanda Leighton (The Fosters) as Blossom, Kristen Li (Monsters University) as Bubbles and Natalie Palamides (Burning Bridges) as Buttercup. It will, however, see the return of series vet Tom Kenny as the voice of the Narrator/Mayor.

Titled “Don’t Call Me Princess,” the clip features Buttercup kicking big bad villain Manboy’s backside after this one says “Townsville needs to get back to its manly roots” and calls her princess. Big mistake, Manboy. Big mistake. Check it out:

The Powerpuff Girls is executive-produced by Nick Jennings (Adventure Time) and co-executive-produced by Bob Boyle (creator of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!). Are you looking forward to the new adventures of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup?
