More familiar faces join the crowded cast of The Defenders

Soon you won't be able to walk down the street in New York City without tripping over a member of the Netflix Marvel universe.

With The Defenders now in production, Netflix and Marvel TV are adding more and more cast members to the long-awaited superhero team-up. Obviously Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) are the cornerstones, but a whole bunch of supporting characters from their individual shows are coming to the party now as well.

Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil's Karen Page) and Simone Missick (Misty Knight from Luke Cage) were confirmed last week -- with Missick revealing the news herself even earlier -- but today we get word that Rachel Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth) and Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), all from Jessica Jones, will show up, along with Scott Glenn (Daredevil's Stick) and the omnipresent Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), who has acted as connective tissue among all the other shows. Elden Henson, who plays Daredevil's Foggy Nelson, announced his own involvement some time back but has also now been officially confirmed.

That's a hell of a lot of people (and we don't know if the Punisher or anyone else from Iron Fist will participate) for a series that's expected to run for just eight episodes, so some of them might make very brief appearances indeed. We also don't know anything yet about the plot of The Defenders, except that Sigourney Weaver is the unnamed villain of the piece.

The Defenders will premiere sometime in 2017, and there's a little teaser here. Are you glad to see so many side characters from the other Marvel/Netflix shows coming back for this one?
