The first trailer for Before I Fall, based on the best-selling novel by Lauren Oliver, has dropped.
Directed by Ry Russo-Young from a screenplay by Maria Maggenti (Finding Carter), the movie stars Zoey Deutch (Vampire Academy), Halston Sage (Goosebumps), Logan Miller (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and Jennifer Beals (Flashdance, The Night Shift).
The premise is very similar to that of Groundhog Day. Girl wakes up, lives her day like any other regular day, with the added twist that she dies at the end, before waking up again and re-living that same day over and over and over again — which always ends with her dying — in a seemingly never-ending loop.
Which totally sucks. For her. In the Young Adult novel, the whole thing happens over the course of a week, so I’m guessing that's what will also happen in the movie adaptation (at least, that's the feeling I get from the movie poster). Here’s the official synopsis:
What if you had only one day to change absolutely everything?
Samantha Kingston has it all: the perfect friends, the perfect guy, and a seemingly perfect future. Then, everything changes. After one fateful night, Sam wakes up with no future at all. Trapped reliving the same day over and over she begins to question just how perfect her life really was. And as she begins to untangle the mystery of a life suddenly derailed, she must also unwind the secrets of the people closest to her, and discover the power of a single day to make a difference, not just in her own life, but in the lives of those around her - before she runs out of time for good.
Before I Fall will open in movie theaters on March 3, 2017. Are you intrigued?
