Watch: The cast of Underworld: Blood Wars on why the franchise has endured so long

The vamps vs. werewolves franchise Underworld has been around since all the way back in 2003, and judging by what the Blood Wars crew had to say, it’s still going strong.

We caught up with the cast of the new sequel Underworld: Blood Wars at New York Comic Con to talk all things Underworld, and the stars promise the new addition will return the “dark tone” fans have come to expect, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be a “wink” or two to fans along the way. The addition of new director Anna Foerster looks to be a good move, and star Kate Beckinsale (who looks as young as she did in the first Underworld, prompting us to think she’s actually a vampire) promises some insane action via an ambitious ice fight.

Beckinsale also talks about the series’ staying power, especially considering it’s telling a story not based on an existing property such as a book or video game (a feat in itself that’s only becoming more rare these days).

Underworld: Blood Wars opens Jan. 6, 2017.
