Stranger Things newscast reports Barb's disappearance

Looks like Barb’s disappearance made the news (the fictional news, that is) after all when the fan-favorite character was snatched and brought to the Upside Down by the Demogorgon in Netflix’s Stranger Things.

The streaming giant has released a “newscast” timed with Halloween where real-life newscaster Brenda Wood breaks the news of Barbara Holland’s (Shannon Purser) disappearance in an archival newsreel from 5 WIYZ Hawkins, Indiana’s “Minute by Minute with Brenda Wood.” And here we all thought no one in Hawkins cared!

The whole thing is played for laughs, especially when the newscaster says Barb can “really rock a pair of mom jeans, or, as we call them now, jeans” and talks about her “oversized pair of absolutely fantastic glasses.” After asking people to contact the authorities if they have any info regarding Barb’s disappearance, Wood then reported on a case of shoplifting at Bradley’s Big Buy. You know, that time when Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) stole boxes of Eggo waffles from the store? The newscast even shows some security footage so that viewers can identify the “vagrant juvenile.”

Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things will return for a highly anticipated second season sometime in 2017.
