Rumor of the Day: Prometheus character to return in Alien: Covenant’s opening scene

After breaking the news on Alien: Covenant’s new Xenomorphs (which are called Neomorphs), AvP Galaxy is back at it again by revealing that a character who first appeared in Prometheus will be back for an encore in the Alien prequel. And I'm not talking about Elizabeth Shaw.

Not only that, but they also have some info as to how Alien: Covenant will open. According to the site, Guy Pearce will be back in the role of a younger Peter Weyland in the movie’s opening scenes that will also feature Michael Fassbender’s android David. Fassbender revealed earlier today that he will also play another android named Walter.

According to AvP Galaxy, the way the scene basically plays out is that David is brought online in a white room with a view of the ocean by Weyland, where the android is asked a series of questions by Pearce’s character. They also have a grand discussion about Gods and creation and human mortality, with David performing Richard Wagner’s Entrance of the Gods into Valhalla to kick off the philosophical conversation. This talk of gods and whatnots sound a bit familiar? Take a look at the video below. That's a big theme for Weyland.

“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

Alien: Covenant also stars Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Jussie Smolett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez and Billy Crudup, with Noomi Rapace returning as Elizabeth Shaw. The movie will open in theaters on Aug. 4, 2017. What do you think about Guy Pearce's return as Peter Weyland?
