Warner Bros. has debuted the first clip for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The movie set in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter (although, to be fair, the story takes place in New York City in the 1920s, which is waaaaayyyy before the Boy Who lived was even born) features a brand-new (old?) hero in magizoologist Newt Scamander, played by Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne.
The clip below features Newt and his new friends Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol), her sister Porpentina (Alien: Covenant's Katherine Waterston) and Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), who happens to be a No-Maj (the American version of Muggle). Queenie asks Newt whether he’d like an apple pie or strudel but Newt isn’t particular, so she turns to Jacob (who prefers strudel) and proceeds to make one from scratch with the use of magic. It’s actually quite a lovely scene. Check it out below:
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Directed by David Yates from a script written by good ol’ J.K. herself, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens on Nov. 18.
