Flash's Greg Berlanti and The 100's Jason Rothenberg developing adventure series at The CW

The CW is already home to a lot of genre TV shows, such as Supernatural, iZombie, The 100, The Vampire Diaries, and The Originals, and the whole of the Arrow-verse will be adding an intriguing new series into the mix.

Deadline reports Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl) will be working hand in hand with The 100 creator and showrunner Jason Rothenberg to develop a new series titled Searchers. Which is rather exciting in and of itself, especially considering the pedigree of Berlanti’s work and the fact that The 100 may be one of The CW’s best shows (despite the many many controversies that riddled the show during the last season).

The series will be penned by Rothenberg and will follow a brother-and-sister duo embarking on a far-flung journey 10 years after their parents died, when they’re forced to come together when they learn that their mom’s weird and frightening stories may actually be a “road map” to the discovery of “great legends, myths, and unexplainable mysteries” from around the globe. Although labeled as an action/adventure drama series, seems that Searchers will lean toward being more “genre-adjacent” because of that.

Jason Rothenberg will also serve as executive producer on the series, alongside Greg Berlanti Productions’ Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Since it’s still early days, no word yet on casting, but I’m sure this is a series worth keeping an eye on. What do you think of the concept for Searchers?
