New Legion teaser trailer looks like a trippy good time, premiere date confirmed

We finally know when the X-Men spinoff TV series Legion will arrive, and the network has offered up a new teaser trailer to boot.

The series, produced by Fargo mastermind Noah Hawley, focuses on the character David Haller (Dan Stevens), a mutant with a form schizophrenia that allows each of his various personalities to control a different mutant power (in the comics, he's also the son of Charles Xavier). The series picks up with Haller as a mental patient, trying to figure out how to control his abilities. It’s a fascinating premise, and we can’t wait to see what Hawley does with it.

The new footage here looks extremely polished, and shows off some of the effects work the series will feature. It might be a psychological thriller, but that doesn’t mean Legion won’t be loaded with some classic X-Men action. We’re still waiting to see just how closely the series will (or won’t) align with the X-Men film universe, and the footage here doesn’t offer many clues to that question. But man, it sure looks great.

Along with the trailer, the network also officially confirmed the series’ premiere date: February 2017.
