New Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character posters unveil the plans to the Death Star

If last week’s mind-blowing final trailer wasn’t enough, Disney and Lucasfilm have released eight new character posters for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Featuring the main characters of director Gareth Edwards’ upcoming Star Wars movie, the posters were released via the official Star Wars Twitter account. They show the faces of the heroes of the Rebel Alliance and the Empire’s villainous Director Orson Krennic, with the Death Star blueprints reflected on their faces. It’s actually a pretty neat touch, since the movie (which is set before the events of A New Hope) is about a bunch of Rebels on a deadly mission to steal the plans to the Empire’s new weapon of galactic mass destruction.

Accompanying the pics are brief character descriptions that read as such — Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones): “A checkered past. A greater cause”; Cassian Andor (Diego Luna): “An intelligence officer for the Rebel Alliance”; Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen): “A warrior monk with faith in the Force”; Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen): “Soldier. Friend”; Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed): “Former Imperial pilot who's seen the light”; K-2SO (Alan Tudyk): “Reprogrammed to fight the Empire that made him”; Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker): “Resolved to win the fight against the Empire”; Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn): “Cruel. Brilliant. Obsessed.”

Sadly, Mads Mikkelsen's Galen Erso (who is responsible for building the darn thing) is nowhere to be seen despite being featured in the latest trailer. Nor is Darth Vader. Oh, well. What do you think of the character posters?

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will open in theaters on Dec. 16.
