The Predator loses Benicio Del Toro but goes on the hunt for Logan star Boyd Holbrook

Director Shane Black's The Predator has lost its main star: Actor Benicio Del Toro has dropped out of the upcoming sequel/reboot of the iconic movie franchise. But fear not! Because Fox has already lined up a replacement for Del Toro, and he’s an up-and-coming actor with whom the studio has already worked with on a couple of recent movie projects.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, negotiations between 20th Century Fox and Del Toro have hit a massive brick wall, and the actor has left the movie project. However, the reasons behind Del Toro’s departure from the alien-hunting sci-fi film have not been revealed and the studio has declined to comment.

It’s actually a darn shame, because Fox switched everything around to accommodate the actor’s busy schedule after courting him for months, even moving the start of filming to February. According to THR sources, things got even more complicated when filming schedules on Del Toro’s other movie projects were shuffled around as well.

Enter Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Gone Girl, Morgan) — who'll soon be hunting down our fave Canadian mutant as the villainous Pierce on Fox’s new Wolverine movie Logan (I still can't get behind that title) — who's now being tapped to replace Del Toro. As THR points out, Holbrook doesn’t have the same star power as the Guardians of the Galaxy alum, but he's a fairly decent actor. That, coupled with the fact that they're looking to prop up the cast and that it's a Predator movie, should be enough to bring the moviegoers in droves. What do you guys think?
