Samuel L. Jackson doesn't like The Force Awakens? Noooooooooooo!

Lots of people love The Force Awakens like it was their own child. Purple-lightsaber-wielding mother#$%er Samuel L. Jackson? Probably not one of those people -- not if we go by this very brief clip, at any rate.

While out and about doing the interview junket for Tarantino's latest, The Hateful Eight, Jackson was asked, point blank, if he'd seen the new Star Wars and, if so, what he thought of it. His flat response?

"It's done in the spirit of the Star Wars films. "

Yikes! And don't think the interviewer didn't grasp that subtle dig, replying "That's a very diplomatic answer." But don't worry, Jackson did go on:

"It's got the same spirit, it's adventure-some. You know, it's exciting ... in a way."

And don't think Sam was gonna leave the new actors out of these proceedings:

"I think the kids need to go to lightsaber fight school, but ... they got time to get better."

Wow. Tell the world how you really feel, Mr. Mace Windu, sir.

I'm sure some of you will be very pleased to hear confirmation of your own criticisms from someone so close to the franchise, but if we're all being honest today, for me this is sounds like some seriously sour grapes out of the mouth of someone who was in the Star Wars movies most people consider to be ... not great. Then again, maybe Jackson, like George Lucas, is extremely defensive of something he poured a lot of creative energy into.

But I'm pretty hard in the tank for The Force Awakens, so you weigh in -- is Samuel L. dropping truth bombs, or is he just upset that he starred in some theatrical bombs?
