Marvel's Daredevil S2: "Elektra is kind of a sociopath"

When Marvel announced Daredevil as part of their Netflix TV deal, fans were elated. It was a welcomed opportunity to restablish the characters that appeared in the 2003 film. They've successfully done so with Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), and now they're tackling Elektra.

Daredevil's second season will introduce a version of the character we've never seen. According to her portrayer Elodie Yung, “Elektra is kind of a sociopath. This world is a game for her, a chess game. What motivates her is what she wants. She’ll use anything [she] needs to use to get to her goal. If she needs to kill people, she will.”

Obviously, Elektra's willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, yet she's not a full-on villain. "We wanted to create a character with different levels,” Yung continued. “She’s not a bad person. She’s not a good person. She’s a person with different traits and layers. We’ll find out who she is really by the end of [the season].”

Elektra will also wear a costume in the series, but don't expect her to be scantily clad. Co-showrunner Doug Petrie explained, "We love the comics - we're fans - but, we wanted Elektra's costume to be reasonable for a martial artist and she's also a little bit of a stylist. There's definitely a costume, but it needs to happen organically like we saw on Daredevil."

Daredevil premieres March 18 on Netflix.

Are you looking forward to a deadlier Elektra?
