Game of Thrones actor talks about his mysterious Ghostbusters role

Ever since it was rumored Charles Dance would have a role in Paul Feig’s female-led Ghostbusters reboot, fans have speculated that the actor would play a villain. Now we finally know a bit more.

Speaking to Radio Times, the Game of Thrones actor not only confirmed he would be in the upcoming movie, but he also touched base on the kind of role he’ll play.

“I’m a kind of straight man to a bunch of very funny ladies.” Those funny ladies are, of course, the four main stars: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, who are now wearing the iconic proton packs and busting ghosts.

As for whether he’s on board as a good guy or the movie’s villain, Dance said, “He’s neither, really. He’s not villainous, but he just doesn’t understand and appreciate the whole ghostbusting thing. He is English as well.” Ooooh, I just had a thought. Maybe he’s playing the ghost of Tywin Lannister in an epic franchise crossover?! That'd be weirdly AWESOME. Heh, a girl can dream.

Director Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot also stars Chris Hemsworth as the girls' assistant, Kevin, as well as Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh and Neil Casey. The Sony movie will also feature special cameo appearances by original Ghostbusters cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver.
