Battlestar Galactica alum cast as the newest villain on The Flash

Next week, The Flash will return with all-new episodes featuring all-new villains. The latest baddie to take on the speedster is The Turtle. The name may not sound intimidating, but he can do serious damage. In the past, The Turtle has battled Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), while his successor Turtle Man has taken on Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).

Both versions of the villain can cause The Flash to lose speed using tricks or scientific devices. The role will be played by Aaron Douglas, who's previously appeared on Battlestar Galactica as Chief Galen Tyrol. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says The Turtle has been on Cisco's (Carlos Valdes) radar for a while.

“In a surprisingly funny twist, Cisco has actually been hunting The Turtle the entire series,” explains Kreisberg. “To Barry’s surprise, everybody knows about Cisco’s hunt for the great white whale, which is The Turtle; he’s the only one who didn’t know about it. We love the idea that there was a villain out there that they knew about, but they just haven’t bothered to tell the audience about yet. All Barry wants to do is get faster, because if he can get faster, he can take on Zoom. He’s going up against a villain who is literally slowing him down. This is one of our best episodes coming back that we’ve ever done. It feels big and emotional.”
