The identity of Marvel Comics’ new Totally Awesome Hulk finally revealed

The Secret Wars event is set to truly shake up the status quo of Marvel Comics, and now we know who’ll be taking up the mantle as the new Hulk.

After dropping a ton of teases over the past several weeks, Marvel has confirmed teenage genius Amadeus Cho will be taking over the mean green role previously held by Bruce Banner. Cho’s version of the Jade Giant will headline the new book Totally Awesome Hulk, written by Greg Pak (Planet Hulk) with art by Frank Cho (Mighty Avengers, Savage Wolverine).

Marvel teases Cho’s new-look Hulk will be “different kind of Hulk,” minus all the torment and conflict we’ve come to expect from Bruce Banner. The publisher also promises he’ll be a “giant wrecking machine who loves before the Hulk.” The ‘book will also answer the obvious question of what happened to Bruce Banner over the previous eight months.

“Come December, the one true Hulk will be a 19-year-old Korean-America “Boy Genius” who is going to carry the burden of being the Hulk like it weighs a feather,” Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said. “He's going to love every minute of it.  In this new series, we are going to lean hard into the fantasy aspects of being the Hulk.  It can’t be all bad, can it?”

The new, Totally Awesome Hulk is set to arrive in December, along with dozens of other new and relaunched comics in the conclusion of Secret Wars.
