Long-lost Shrek story reel features Chris Farley as the original ogre

Falstaffian funnyman Chris Farley left this Earth far too soon, passing away in December of 1997 of an accidental drug overdose at the age of 33.

One of the better-known projects he was involved with prior to his demise was providing the lead character's voice for DreamWorks' Shrek.  Apparently Farley was 80-90 percent finished with all the vocal recording work on Shrek before his death.   The studio decided to scrap all of his dialogue and reached out to SNL alum Mike Myers, who had recently finished up Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.  Discovered by Consequence of Sound, this DreamWorks Animation story reel with a Farley-esque Shrek is one of the few things remaining from the uncompleted vocal performance, and it's fascinating to hear Farley's interpretation of the lovable ogre minus Myers' Scottish brogue.

Check it out and tell us if you like your Shrek voiced by Myers or if this Farley version might have been better..
