Kara Zor-El communicates with mom in touching new Supergirl TV spot

Interest in CBS's new live-action Supergirl series keeps shooting skyward with each new image and trailer.

Here's the most recent TV spot, titled Standing  Out, showing Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) having a motivational mother-daughter moment through the magic of some shimmery inter-dimensional projector.   The sappy life-affirming anthem playing during this clip worries us somewhat as to the eventual tone the creators are trying for, but from what we've witnessed in previous teasers, it balances real-world angst with wholesome high-flying adventure, all bundled up in transcending coming-of-age arc.   Grab a tissue and go take a look..

Produced by Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions, veterans of The CW's hit superhero shows, Arrow and The Flash, Supergirl is based on characters from DC Comics and focuses on the blond-haired cousin of Superman, who lands on Earth after escaping the destruction of her doomed home planet of Krypton.

Supergirl premieres Monday, Oct. 26, at 8:30 p.m. before shifting to its normal time slot on Monday, Nov. 2.    Think it'll take off or quickly fade away?
