Max fights feral phantoms in new, extended Mad Max game trailer

Check out this new extended trailer for the upcoming Mad Max videogame shown at this week's Gamescom 2015 convention in Cologne, Germany, with our burnout hero drifting across the crippling solitude of the wasteland's unforgiving sands.  Avalanche Studios, the developer behind the Just Cause franchise, has injected an existential attitude into its brutal new Mad Max game, as the roaming Rockatansky encounters more post-apocalyptic horrors on his way to the Silent Plains, pursued by Scabrous Scrotus, vile son of Immortan Joe.

This gaming version of George Miller's sci-fi saga is not a tie-in to this summer's Mad Max: Fury Road and exists as a standalone story only,  expanding the familiar bloodstained territory in an open-world gaming environment.

Here's the official press announcement from WB Games accompanying this potent preview:

In this new trailer, Max visits some of the game’s diverse strongholds and encounters a number of intriguing characters, including Jeet, Gutgash, Pink Eye and Deep Friah. In a world where Max faces both his internal and external enemies, these strongholds hold the pieces essential to the puzzle he tries to solve. Max will need to make some uneasy alliances as he prepares to take on merciless Wasteland tyrant, Scrotus. Featuring deep car customisation, metal-grinding vehicular action, brutal melee combat and a vast desert landscape waiting to be explored, players will be fully immersed into the deadly Mad Max universe like never before.

Mad Max roars into stores on Sept. 1, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One and PC.  Will you blast out and buy it or boycott it?
