Buzz Aldrin reveals Apollo 11 travel voucher, customs forms after returning from the moon

The government is all about having a paper trail, and it seems that unstoppable whirlwind of bureaucracy extends all the way to the moon.

In an awesome bit of show and tell, legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin has revealed the vintage travel documents generated from his trip to the moon on Apollo 11 in 1969. It’s hilariously bizarre to see this legendary mission broken down in the most benign, stale way possible. The trip origin and destination: Florida, then The Moon. Oh, and they also have to point out the meals and quarters were furnished by Uncle Sam.

You know, because they were on the moon and everything.

The customs form is also there, because even if you go to the moon, you still have to declare what you brought back. Moon rocks and moon dust allowed — just no unauthorized fruits or veggies, of course.
