Marvel's Secret Wars goes back to Battleworld for a one-issue extension

Feeling a bit down with the thought of saying goodbye to Lord God Doom's Battleworld after the Secret Wars 8-issue run ends?  Marvel feels your pain and has granted the creative team of Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic an extended stay with the commission of one more issue! Marvel's Secret Wars crossover event has been wildly entertaining and incredibly successful from a business standpoint, with not only the core storyline but the spectacular spinoff titles like Ghost Racers, Weirdworld and Planet Hulk as well.  I welcome the addition of #9 to keep this crazy comic-book party rolling with a temporary reprieve from its final pages.

"Apparently, Secret Wars is even bigger than we thought it was," stated Marvel Editor-In-Chief Alex Alonso. "To help Jonathan and Esad conclude this epic event as big and bombastically as it started, we are adding an extra issue.  That means one more month of the suspense, action and game-changing storytelling that fans and retailers have been clamoring for since the final incursion started."

Marvel SVP of Sales & Marketing David Gabriel explained that this extra bonus issue will not push out the All-New, All-Different Marvel launch in September following Secret Wars' superhero-smashing extravaganza.

"This extra issue will not affect any of the new launches as part of All-New, All-Different Marvel," he said.  "But there might be a surprise or two left over from Battleworld you weren’t expecting. In fact, like the original Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, some of those puzzle pieces will hit the Marvel Universe before the event concludes. But if you want to see how they all fit together, you don’t want to miss these last few issues."

Secret Wars #9 will be penned by Jonathan Hickman, with interior art from Esad Ribic and another killer cover from Alex Ross.

Are you happy to head once more unto the Battleworld breach, or ready to close this chaotic chapter of Marvel alt-universe history?
