Tim Kring takes us behind the scenes of Heroes: Reborn in new footage

We’re just a few weeks away from the premiere of NBC’s Heroes: Reborn, and series creator Tim Kring has pulled back the curtain for a peek behind the scenes.

The network has dropped a lengthy new behind-the-scenes featurette that focuses on Kring, returning star Jack Coleman and new addition Zachary Levi (Chuck) as they attempt to find and bottle the magic that made the first season of this show so much fun. The network promises the new run will “reconnect with the basic elements” from the first season, before the concept drowned under the weight of its own convoluted canon.

As for the fresh footage, we get an extended look at that scene with a gun-wielding Levi, some nice action scenes (Hiro! Mohinder!) and some focus on a few of the new super-powered characters they’re adding to the mix. There are also some mood-setting shots that are definitely trying hard to evoke the awe of 2006, when Heroes first blew our socks off.

Can it do it again? Check out the new footage below and let us know what you think:

Heroes: Reborn premieres Sept. 24 on NBC.
