ABC changes its tune, greenlights Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff

Earlier this year, it was announced that ABC was producing a spinoff for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But before anyone could celebrate, they quickly backtracked. It was reported that the show wasn't a done deal, and might not happen. That was three months ago, and a lot has changed since then.

According to Variety, the spinoff is back on. ABC is finalizing a deal for an upcoming series called Marvel's Most Wanted. It will center on S.H.I.E.L.D. favorites Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood). Both characters were at the forefront of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s second season.

Marvel's Most Wanted will follow Morse and Hunter on their many adventures together. The series was co-created by S.H.I.E.L.D. producers Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewsk, who will also co-write the pilot. The network has yet to decide on how they'll proceed with the show. There's no premiere date or plans for a backdoor pilot.

Marvel's Most Wanted will bolster ABC's growing comic-book fare, which also includes Agent Carter and an unnamed Marvel project from John Ridley.
