As we know, Batman and Superman have had tweaks to their suits in the upcoming Batman v Superman. But they aren’t the only ones. General Zod is also getting—wait, did someone just say Zod? Didn’t he get his neck fatally twisted at the end of Man of Steel?
Yeah, it seems that Zod will be back. And his suit will be different from the one Michael Shannon wore before. It seems his costume has flippers.
According to Vulture, Shannon’s flippers were so cumbersome that he found himself stuck in a bathroom, unable to open the door:
“So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the f-ck is he?’ and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!’” Fortunately, Shannon had his personal superhero in the “craft-service guy, who doesn’t have the best craft service,” Shannon said. “He was actually paying attention to what was going on. He came over and he opened the door for me. Otherwise I would have gotten fired.”
Why does his costume have flippers? Will Zod return mutated? Will Shannon appear in some sort of strange dream sequence?
Better yet, could these wax flippers actually be a special-effects marker for Doomsday’s claws? And does this imply that Shannon won’t be playing General Zod but Superman’s other Kryptonian nemesis?
I don’t know. But I’m looking forward to hearing more hilarious stories of villains' costumes gone bad. Remember, kids, villainy doesn’t pay.
