LEGO Movie's Chris Miller says Sony's animated Spidey flick won't be 'another Peter Parker origin story'

The LEGO Movie co-director Chris Miller gave a recent interview with IGN in which he talked about his and Phil Lord’s (his LEGO Movie co-director) intriguing plans regarding their upcoming animated Spider-Man feature film for Sony, revealing it’s not going to be "just another Peter Parker origin story."

Can I have a heck, yeah?!

The extremely busy dynamic duo (they’re working on a Han Solo-centric Star Wars Anthology movie for Disney, and have been linked to that other Ghostbusters movie reboot allegedly starring Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt, as well as several LEGO Movie projects and DC superhero movie The Flash, starring Ezra Miller in the title role over at Warner Bros.) is currently hard at work on that animated Spider-Man flick.

When he was asked how it was to work on such an iconic Marvel comic-book character — which saw many versions on the small and big screen over the years — and what his approach would be, Miller had this to say:

I can’t really talk too much about that project. Much like the Han Solo, it is shrouded in secrecy, so I can’t really talk about it. But I will say, it is not just another Peter Parker origin story that you’ve seen 400 times. It is something totally unique and different and not like anything you’ve seen. That’s all I can say… and you’re going to love it!

Could Miller be hinting that it’s actually going to be Miles Morales (and NOT Peter Parker) who’ll make his big-screen animated debut? It could also mean that we'll still see Peter Parker, but this time he'll already be a few years older (so no origin story there) and wearing the cool red and gold costume (pic above) made for him by Iron Man, right before Marvel erupted into Civil War? It's just me speculating here, but that would also be "totally unique and different." Food for thought, guys. What do you think? Which version of the webhead would you like to see in Sony's in-the-works animated movie?
