New Spider-Man writers confirm that Spidey's Civil War cameo has been filmed

We now have proof that Spider-Man will indeed show up in Captain America: Civil War -- and has already been on set.

The screenwriters for the Marvel/Sony reboot of Spider-Man that's coming out in 2017, Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley, may have made official what Marvel has still not confirmed itself when they told Vulture that they were going to Marvel Studios this weekend to watch footage of Tom Holland as Peter Parker making his cameo in the next Marvel epic. Goldstein said, "We hear good things. We might even get to look at the Spidey suit, which is exciting."

Although it's been probably one of Marvel's worst-kept secrets, the studio -- mainly in the form of president Kevin Feige -- has never publicly stated for certain that Spider-Man would make an appearance in Civil War. But it was also widely speculated that once the new Spider-Man was cast, he'd probably head to the set in a hurry to make his historic appearance alongside the likes of Cap (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Vision (Paul Bettany), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and others.

So while the studio has still not said anything on its own, we now know for sure that Spider-Man -- or at least Peter Parker -- does appear in Civil War and has already filmed his scene. As for what that looks like or how he fits into the story, no one is talking about that. Yet.

Captain America: Civil War is due out May 6, 2016, while the Spider-Man standalone movie arrives on July 28, 2017.
