Star Trek's Jeri Ryan joins Arrow Season 4 in mysterious new role

The CW’s Arrow has never been afraid to pull in some fan-favorite genre alums, and they’re dipping into the Star Trek talent pool with Season 4.

Access Hollywood reports that Jeri Ryan, best known for her role as Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager, has joined the series as a mysterious new resident in Starling City. She’s set to play Jessica Danforth, a friend of the Queen family. Like most friends of the Queen family, she will be put “in the crosshairs of a menacing antagonist,” in this instance because of her political ambitions. Admittedly, that’s a bit vague, but it’s all we have at the moment.

Ryan is set to make her debut in the second episode of Season 4, which airs Oct. 14. The appearance is currently listed as a guest role for that one episode, though you’d think she could always return down the line (assuming her character survives the debut appearance, of course).

As far as we can tell, the role seems to have been created for the show, meaning it doesn’t have any connections to the DC Comics canon. Of random note: Gotham City once had a mayor named Daniel Danforth Dickerson III, so maybe the name is a sly nod there? Or a total coincidence. Who knows.

Though Ryan is best remembered for her decades-old Star Trek gig, she’s had many memorable roles on other shows in recent years. Highlights include Helix, Leverage, Body of Proof, Boston Public and Warehouse 13.

What do you think of Ryan’s casting on Arrow? Glad to see her join the DC-verse?
