Rumor of the day: Ant-Man and Doctor Strange share a strange connection

Warning: Spoilers for Ant-Man

We hope you paid attention to the scene in Ant-Man when Ant-Man shrank down to a size small enough to fit through Yellowjacket’s defenses. This shrinking landed Ant-Man in the quantum realm, the tiny world of quarks that renders time itself meaningless. It seems that the quantum realm will turn up in yet another Marvel movie: Doctor Strange.

CinemaBlend quoted Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, who said, “If you look up the study of quantum mechanics, when you get down that small, as Hank Pym says, spacetime is meaningless, and there’s a lot of that stuff that applies to Doctor Strange.”

Unlike many superheroes in the Marvel universe, who derive their powers through radiation, mutation, serums and sheer determination, Doctor Strange uses magic. In fact, he’s the (on-again/off-again) Sorcerer Supreme of the universe, and his powers include flight, teleportation, creating illusions ... and dimension travel.

As ScreenRant said when it quoted Feige, “With Strange, it is a classic Marvel origin story because he’s got one of the best origins ever. And it’s our opportunity to take that left turn into the supernatural. Now, what is the definition of supernatural? It varies. We like the idea of playing with alternate dimensions.”

Will Strange and Ant-Man ever meet in the quantum realm? It would be delightful if they did. Just about every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie and television show has mentioned the Avengers and their battle in New York City. We’ve already seen Black Widow team up with Captain America in The Winter Soldier. (Yes, Peggy Carter and Howard Stark appeared in Ant-Man, but they shared no screentime with Scott Lang.

It’s about time that other non-Avengers characters get a comrade in arms.
