Image of the day: familiar faces in new Alien artwork from Neill Blomkamp

We don't know a whole lot about the Alien film that director Neill Blomkamp is working on, but he's posted another piece of concept art that is intriguing to say the least.

It was these designs, posted six months ago by Blomkamp, that got the ball rolling on a new Alien movie in the first place -- he created the artwork for his own enjoyment, but two months later things had snowballed and Blomkamp found himself installed as the director of a brand-new Alien film for 20th Century Fox (not Prometheus 2, which is under separate development).

Although Blomkamp went mostly quiet after that -- aside from doing press for his unsuccessful third movie, Chappie -- he has now posted a new Alien image at his Instagram account that follows the general vibe of the previous work he's done on the project (much of which has now been taken off his account):

The new image features both Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and Corporal Hicks (Michael Biehn), although neither actor has been confirmed to come back to the series yet. The inclusion of Hicks/Biehn is especially interesting, since Hicks died at the start of Alien 3 and Blomkamp has said he's not retconning either that movie or its followup, the Ripley clone saga Alien Resurrection.

Hopefully we'll be hearing more about the first proper Alien film in two decades soon, but in the meantime what do you make of this new image?
