Entire Back to the Future trilogy heading back to theaters for the 30th anniversary

It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since Back to the Future blew our minds, and the studio is planning something extremely big to celebrate the occasion.

The entire film trilogy is heading back to theaters for a limited run, which is set to open around October. We don’t know much at this point in regard to how widely this will roll out, but we’d think it’ll at least be a solid effort in major markets. We also don’t know if they’ll package all three films together for an epic triple bill, but, again, that would definitely make sense. More details should be announced in the coming months.

The theatrical re-release also coincides with a massive Blu-ray set slated to hit shelves on Oct. 21, 2015, which is a date that should be intimately familiar for fans of Back to the Future II. That will include the entire trilogy, the short-lived animated series and a smattering of special features (packaged in a faux flux capacitor, no less). Last but not least, a 30th-anniversary vinyl rerelease of the soundtrack is also in the works, and will arrive Oct. 16.

Now all we need is for Nike to hurry things along with the Air MAG shoes, and we’ll be set. Oh, and to snag one of these to cruise around on.
