Check out concept art and videos for new TRON lightcycle ride at Shanghai Disneyland

With hopes of a third TRON film disappointingly dashed by Disney, here's some news that may brighten your mood about returning to the game grid.   Disney Imagineering, those wonderful wizards who design all the memorable attractions at Disney theme parks worldwide, just unveiled a pair of concept videos for their new TRON roller coaster set to launch in Tomorrowland at Shanghai Disneyland when it opens in spring 2016.

These cool design-phase details are a far cry from Disney's previous park adaptation of the TRON movie, Disneyland's lame "Thru The World Of TRON" attraction from the '80s, in which riders on the Peoplemover cruised through a dizzy tunnel projecting key action sequences from the 1982 sci-fi fantasy movie on the walls.

Though still in the final concept phase, these newly released videos from Disney CEO Bob Iger give you an idea of what can be expected once the spectacular E-ticket ride is completed.  The TRON Lightcycle Power Run is a wild new coaster-style attraction where fearless riders board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for one of the most thrilling adventures at any Disney park.

Fasten your seat belts and take a flight through this digital-realm thrillride and preview the six themed lands of Disney Shanghai Resort without spending a single Disney Dollar.

Some of these elaborate attractions look positively awesome, and we can only hope some of them eventually filter down into Disney's theme parks here in America.

Would you travel all the way over to China to load into this luminous TRON coaster?
