TV THIS WEEK: Geeks Who Drink premieres, RoboShark arrives, and more!

Summer premieres are a little quiet for the moment, but that doesn't mean we don't have anything fun to watch. This week Syfy premieres two new shows -- Geeks Who Drink and Reactor -- while we also get good news for fans of ScreamWayward Pines and more.

Check out the week in TV below. What's on your watchlist?

Highlights of the Week

Scream (MTV) Tuesday, 10 p.m. - "Wanna Play a Game?"

When MTV first announced its plans to make Scream into a TV series, a lot of fans were skeptical. For one thing, the franchise had already doled out four films, and for another, the idea of stretching the fundamental whodunit concept into a full season seemed iffy. Whatever you might think of the show, though, MTV has already declared it a hit. Just two weeks after its premiere, the network has renewed the show for a second season, so get ready for even more murder and mayhem.

Wayward Pines (FOX) Thursday, 9 p.m. - "A Reckoning"

It's really too bad for FOX that Wayward Pines was designed to be a limited series. After very strong early numbers, the series just keeps delivering. News hit today that the latest DVR numbers put the series at double its initial live rating, as it rose from a 1.2 to a 2.4 in key demographics. M. Night Shyamalan and company have a hit on their hands, and this information only bolsters the idea that summer event series are a key part of keeping networks successful. Check out a preview of this week's episode below.

Geeks Who Drink (Syfy) Thursday, 11 p.m. -  "Eric Christian Olsen vs. Scott Porter"

Series premiere! - All across America, nerds of all stripes have demonstrated their very specific knowledge via pub quizzes, and now that dynamic is coming to Syfy. Chuck and Heroes Reborn star Zachary Levi hosts this half-hour journey into the realm of nerd trivia, in which two celebrities serve as a team captains in a battle of geek supremacy, fueled by alcohol. The concept sounds like lots of fun. Now we get to see if the final product lives up to that.

Reactor (Syfy) Thursday, 11:30 p.m. - "Episode One"

Series premiere! - Syfy tried its hand at a show that reacted to nerd culture every week with The Wil Wheaton Project, but even though that didn't quite work, they're going to try again with Reactor. In this series, host David Huntsberger will guide us through "a weekly comedic roundup of everything sci-fi." Here's hoping the jokes end up landing.

Roboshark and Megashark vs. Kolossus (Syfy) Saturday, 7 p.m.

Movie premieres! - Discovery's already celebrated its annual "Shark Week," but now it's Syfy's turn. This weekend, the network will host a pair of crazy shark-centric films, and they're bringing robots along for the ride. In the first film, a shark bites a UFO and turns into a weird shark-machine mixup, while in the second a shark goes toe to toe with a robot from the Cold War. Check out previews below.
