Syfy is going back to its space opera roots in less than two weeks with a brand-new sci-fi series titled Killjoys, which follows a trio of intergalactic bounty hunters (aka reclamation agents) as they chase down fugitives throughout the Quad — a distant planetary system teetering toward a bloody class war.
The upcoming TV show (it'll also air on Space in Canada) comes from the creative mind of showrunner Michelle Lovretta — who gave us the dark fantasy series Lost Girl — and stars Hannah John-Kamen (Black Mirror), Aaron Ashmore (Warehouse 13) and Luke MacFarlane (Person of Interest). Here's a description:
Leading the Killjoys team is Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen), a gorgeous, former assassin with a complicated past; her loyal partner John (Aaron Ashmore), a witty, technical wizard with a vulnerable heart; and his estranged brother D’avin (Luke Macfarlane), an elite soldier with an expertise in combat tactics. Together, the three Killjoys form a highly accomplished team of bounty hunters, each with distinct and valuable specialties to offer as they navigate the culturally rich, politically complex, and economically polarized worlds of The Quad.
The upcoming 10-part series will also feature genre vet Amanda Tapping (Stargate SG-1) in a guest-starring role as a super clever scientist who keeps her true intentions from the Killjoys, thanks to her charismatic charm. In order to whet our appetite, and ahead of the June 19 premiere on both Syfy and Space, a first-look featurette has been released, giving us some cool info into the Killjoys' sci-fi world:
Will you be heading into space with Killjoys on June 19?
