Lost's Matthew Fox battles snow zombies in first trailer for sci-fi flick Extinction

We've been waiting for word of this intense post-apocalyptic sci-fi film since it began filming in Budapest back in 2014, and now it's finally secured a distributor and official U.S. release date.

Directed by Miguel Angel Vivas (Kidnapped) and starring Matthew Fox (Lost, Speed Racer, Alex Cross) and Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice), Extinction follows the horrific events unfolding in the aftermath of nuclear winter as neighbors must band together against a rampaging mob of mutated zombies in the iced-over New England town of Harmony. Originally titled Welcome to Harmony, it boasts an eerie 30 Days of Night-like atmosphere matched with the survival dynamics and gruesome zombie decor of The Walking Dead that rabid horror fans should flock to.

Here's the official synopsis:

For nine years, Patrick (Matthew Fox), Jack (Jeffrey Donovan) and his daughter Lu (Quinn McColgan) have outlasted the zombie apocalypse by shutting themselves off in the snowbound town of Harmony.  The monsters have seemingly disappeared, with no sign of other survivors, but the constant fear of the unknown is starting to take a toll on this makeshift family.  When Patrick goes scavenging for food, he discovers the undead have returned and evolved into something terrifying, beyond imagination. Will the last breath of the human race survive a second zombie apocalypse?

Vertical Entertainment unleashes Extinction in theaters and VOD on July 31, 2015. Does the trailer deliver for you or die a slow death?
