Months ago, we learned the mutant Psylocke would finally get her turn on the big screen. The character will appear in next year's X-Men: Apocalypse, played by actress Olivia Munn, who's currently honing her martial arts skills. Munn recently posted a video on Instagram of her training. She's doing some pretty complicated sword work, which we assume she'll show off in the film.
For those who don't know, Psylocke aka Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock, made her comic debut in Marvel UK's Captain Britain in 1976. The character has an interesting set of powers that include telekinesis, telepathy, and psychic knives/swords. Yes, you read the last one right. The blades are composed of raw psionic energy that can slice through any armour, as well as leave her opponent motionless.
If this video is any indication, we'll see Psylocke put her katana to good use. The only thing missing here is her purple hair. We can't wait to see Munn in full costume.
X-Men: Apocalypse is directed by Bryan Singer and opens in theaters May 27.
What do you think of Munn's skills?
