The zombie virus spreads in first Fear the Walking Dead clip

In the wake of last week’s hearth-thumping first-look promo debuted by AMC, now comes the first clip from their Walking Dead spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead.

The 30-second clip features guidance counselor Madison (Kim Dickens), who’s trying to reassure a student that news reports of a virus or a microbe that's spreading aren’t as serious as he thinks them to be: "You need to spend less time online, OK? The authorities would tell us." Famous. Last. Words.

Instead of taking place around Atlanta, Ga., Fear the Walking Dead is set on the West Coast in Los Angeles and recounts the early days of the zombie apocalypse. The storyline of the companion series centers around Travis (Cliff Curtis), a divorced teacher, and Kim Dickens’ Madison. Frank Dillane (son of Game of Thrones’ Stephen Dillane) plays Madison's son Nick, a young man with a troubled history with drugs, while Alycia Debnam-Carey stars as Alicia, her ambitious daughter. Fear the Walking Dead will premiere on AMC in August 2015.
