Image of the Day: Here's a high-quality version of that X-Men: Apocalypse concept art featuring Cyclops and Jean Grey

A better version of previously leaked concept art from Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse has been released, showing off young Cyclops and Jean Grey in action.

The atmosphere looks like a war zone, with Cyclops shooting an energy blast from atop an overturned bus, while Jean Grey takes shelter behind some debris to use her psychic powers. But who is Cyclops shooting at? It looks like fellow X-Men team member Storm, which could be interesting. Might they not be on the same side at first meeting?

The latest X-Men sequel/prequel will be set in the 1980s and track the birth of the team as we know it, anchored by young versions of all the X-Men we know and love from the original trilogy (and comics, of course). Considering how much fun we've had with First Class and Days of Future Past, we can't wait for this one.

Check out the art below and let us know what you think (higher-resolution version here):

Along with returning stars Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult, Apocalypse will bring Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm) and Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse) into the fold.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open May 27, 2016.
