Snikt! Own a 3D printer? Now you can build your own retractable Wolverine claws

Got a 3D printer? If you do, you can now make your own fully functioning (they extend and retract) Wolverine claws and feel like an X-Man! How neat is that, bub?

Advancer Technologies have released a cool video, as well as complete step-by-step instructions, that will enable you to make your own set of Wolverine claws. Called the "Bionic Claws" (so that they don’t get sued), this is done with a technology they’re developing called MyoWare, a fourth-generation muscle sensor. Here’s a description that came with the video:

Our tutorial will teach you to build bionic claws using our fourth-generation muscle sensor, the MyoWare. Simply flex your forearm muscle and *SNIKT*, a fraction of a second later the 4 inch claws extend out. Relax your forearm to retract the claws. We've even added a muscle-activated locking mechanism in case you want the claws to stay out without keeping your muscle flexed.

Check it out, SNIKT! indeed:

Not content with simply building and providing us with functioning, retractable Wolverine claws, the MyoWare sensor could also be used to make prosthetic limbs more functional. A very laudable endeavor in my book. Someone would only need to flex their muscle to use an artificial limb and pick something up. If you want to help, head on over to their Kickstarter page to get more info.
