The cosplay of WonderCon 2015

WonderCon, Comic-Con International's little sibling convention, has always been an appetizer in comparison to San Diego's big annual bash ... but one would never believe that looking at the level of cosplay on display. It doesn't matter if it's the opening day, the epic Masquerade or Easter Sunday, every direction you looked was an example of ingenuity, design and months of manual labor parading the grounds with a cluster of gawkers with their cellphone cameras pointed, trying to preserve that moment.

The influence of film, anime and television still remains heavy, but so is the trend of diversity in mainstream comics. There were Spider-Gwens, Michonnes, Captain Marvels and several other prominent female characters being represented. Steampunk mashups also continue to be a popular trend, as are some of the classics. Here is a sample of some of the best that we saw at WonderCon 2015.
