James Cameron has apparently written not three, but FOUR Avatar sequels

Are we going to get an Avatar 5? That may seem like a crazy question, but it's not, because apparently James Cameron has, erm, unintentionally written enough material for not only the three planned Avatar sequels we already know about, but also a fourth one. Now, that’s what I call being prolific.

James Horner -- who happens to be a long-time musical collaborator of James Cameron -- said that the famous Titanic director has found himself to be in possession of "four sequels, script-wise." Horner told Hey U Guys:

"Right now, Jim has got four sequels, script-wise, and he’s trying to make it into three. That’s where his effort is going, right now, to keep it to three sequels.

"Because he’s got so much going on. How do you keep it from expanding into yet a fourth movie? A fifth movie, I guess, total."

But don’t get your hopes up just yet: Horner says that Cameron will "get that sorted out" rather than give us a fifth Avatar. Back in 2013, Cameron finally announced that we would get not two (as fans expected) but three sequels to the 2009 bazillion-dollars box-office champ. Cameron said that two would not be enough for him to tell the story he wanted to tell:

"In writing the new films, I've come to realise that Avatar's world, story and characters have become even richer than I anticipated. It became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen."

As for the plot of the sequels, Horner confirms that "a lot of it will take place underwater...I've seen some of the stuff and it's stunning. All I can say is you've never seen that before."

All three Avatar movies will be filmed in one go a la Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit in New Zealand, before finally hitting movie theaters in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Are you looking forward to a return to Pandora?
