First full Batman v Superman trailer leaks online ahead of its IMAX debut

This day and age, it’s getting harder and harder to keep stuff under wraps. Case in point? The first trailer for Warner Bros. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has leaked online, days ahead of its (planned) official debut.

A cam version of the trailer (meaning a cell phone/camera recording of a theatrical screening) has leaked online, showing the full 2+ minute trailer. It offers up our first real inkling of what the story will be about, and it seems director Zack Snyder is taking a deep dive into the effect a godlike being would have on everything from religion to politics.

Despite the decent run time, this thing is most definitely a teaser trailer. Actual footage is relatively slim, as we instead get a bunch of atmospheric shots and a nice voiceover asking what the appearance of Superman will do to the world (was that Neil deGrasse Tyson we heard in there?). Judging by the attitude Ben Affleck’s Batman is sporting, we think it’ll definitely draw the ire of the Dark Knight for ... whatever reason. We also get nothing in regard to Wonder Woman, or any of the other myriad heroes in this flick.

The only interesting bit of (apparent) film footage seems to mirror the teaser that was shown several months ago at San Diego Comic Con, featuring Batman on the ground (rocking some armor), asking an airborne Superman if he can bleed. It’s a geek-tastic exchange, to be sure, but we were kind of expecting a little bit more from the first trailer. Admittedly, the film is still almost a year away — but still. It’s been in the works for a while now.

As for the leak? We’re curious to see if Warner Bros. goes ahead and drops the trailer early, considering a crummy version is being widely circulated while the official debut on April 20 is still a few days away. Remember: The same thing happened with the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, and Marvel quickly went ahead and dropped an official version online. Do you think Warner Bros. follows that same train of thought?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25, 2016.

So what’d you think of the trailer? Did Batfleck’s growl encompass everything you want from the next Batman?
