Mission Impossible 5 director sets the record straight with impromptu fan Q&A

The modern-day Mission: Impossible franchise has been an enduring element in the spy-fi genre for the better part of two decades, and the man helming the latest installment promises all those rumors you’ve been hearing aren’t true.

The latest Mission: Impossible film, the fifth in the series, is set to premiere July 31 — and rumors have run rampant in regard to alleged problems behind the scenes. There’ve been rumblings that the film was messed up because rewrites were needed to fix/reshoot the ending, all of which was apparently compounded when the studio bumped the release date up by several months.

Director Christopher McQuarrie aimed to set the record straight with a recent fan Q&A on Twitter, and said reports that the film ran into problems are not true — and he’ll address the issue in further detail once he hits the road making promo appearances. He also promised that a trailer should arrive “very soon,” as they’re in a bit of a time crunch to get the marketing campaign lined up for the quick turnover.
