Game of Thrones star signs on for guest role in new season of Doctor Who

We don’t know much of anything about next season of Doctor Who, aside from the fact that Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman will be back — but now it sounds like they’ll have a new friend.

The studio has confirmed that Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams, 17, will have a guest role on the new season. Does that mean a one-off, or multi-episode arc? No clue. Regardless, the young actress should make an excellent addition to the world of Who. She’s extremely talented, and we’re anxious to see what Steven Moffat cooks up.

Not surprisingly, the studio has been mum in regard to the role Williams will be playing. But Moffat told the BBC the role should be a unique one that plays on the Doctor in an unexpected way. So she's definitely not just playing some random kid for a cash-in cameo. Hmm, now we’re really curious:

“We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”

Filming on the new season actually kicked off in January, and we can expect to have an air date for later this fall.
